I’m Dr Tanya Banfield, a Chartered Psychologist and British Psychological Society-trained Expert Witness. My work spans criminal justice, regulatory, and workplace settings, supporting neurodivergent individuals and the organisations that work with them.
Since 2015, I’ve focused my practice on coaching, psychotherapy, and forensic psychological work, drawing on both lived experience and academic expertise to promote genuine inclusion and understanding.
After working in social justice and educational settings, I transitioned to private practice in 2022 to make a more personal impact. My work often involves preparing expert witness reports and testimony in cases that involve neurodiversity. I also continue to work directly with individuals who identify as or have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, or related conditions, helping them build resilience, wellbeing, and confidence through evidence-based approaches.
My background includes eight years working within the prison system, which shaped my understanding of neurodivergence in complex environments. This experience continues to inform my practice, particularly in the fields of criminal justice and regulation. Through Beyond the Question, I now combine my forensic expertise with compassionate, inclusive coaching and training to drive systemic change.
Collaboration is central to everything I do. I work closely with organisations to promote neuro-inclusion and challenge unconscious bias, while ensuring that every intervention aligns with my guiding principle: Do no harm.
I remain committed to staying at the forefront of neurodiversity research and practice so that Beyond the Question continues to evolve, support, and inspire.

“One of the most transformative aspects of my coaching experience was developing ‘clean language’ in my communications. Prior to working with Dr. Banfield, I often found myself struggling to express my thoughts and emotions effectively, often leading to misunderstandings and frustration.”
