ABOUT DR Tanya Banfield
Chartered Psychologist & British Psychological Society-trained Expert Witness
Beyond the Question was founded by Dr Tanya Banfield, a Chartered Psychologist and British Psychological Society-trained Expert Witness. Tanya provides expert witness reports, assessments, coaching, and consultancy focused on neurodiversity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
With over 20 years’ experience in neurodiversity and cognitive differences, Tanya works across criminal justice, regulatory, and workplace settings, supporting neurodivergent individuals and the organisations that serve them. Her background includes work with the NHS, Police, and the prison service, including HMP Dartmoor and HMP Portland.
As a neurodivergent individual with formal diagnoses of ADHD and Autism, Tanya brings both professional expertise and personal insight to her work. Her approach combines forensic precision with empathy, helping individuals and teams navigate stress, emotional regulation, and workplace inclusion challenges.
Her Doctorate in Health focused on neuro-inclusion and the development of effective interventions that empower neurodivergent adults. Tanya continues to develop evidence-based strategies that support resilience, wellbeing, and fair representation within the legal and workplace systems.
Through Beyond the Question, Tanya collaborates with organisations to promote neuro-inclusion, raise awareness, and challenge unconscious bias. Her work is guided by a simple principle:
