Expert Witness – Litigation & Regulatory
Dr Tanya Banfield is a Chartered Psychologist and British Psychological Society-trained Expert Witness, registered with the UK Register of Expert Witnesses. She provides independent psychological assessments and expert reports for criminal justice, workplace, and regulatory proceedings involving neurodivergent individuals.
Tanya specialises in reports relating to ADHD, Autism, and combined diagnoses, offering objective, evidence-based insight to assist courts, tribunals, and employers. Her reports and testimony are informed by extensive experience in forensic and occupational psychology, and underpinned by her Doctorate in psychology, which focused on health in the criminal justice system.
She accepts both private and Legal Aid instructions and has acted for individuals, defence teams, employers, and regulatory bodies, ensuring balanced and impartial assessment. Tanya’s approach combines forensic precision with clinical empathy, offering clear, accessible analysis for complex cases.

How to instruct Dr Banfield
Emails Exchanged:
Initial enquiry to ensure Tanya is the expert you need.
An Exploratory call:
A billed call, for up to 60 minutes, via TEAMs. (Please note payment is due on confirmation of the call).
A Quote For Work:
Shared for approval before work begins.
Letter of Instruction & Case Information
Client provides full documentation, including legal or medical background information.
Payment:
The Client makes payment for work to begin.
Assessment & Report
Assessment conducted (if required), and the Expert Witness Report is shared upon completion.
Assessments
Screening and Assessments can take place between two and four hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the case. Assessments are carried out remotely where possible.
Dr Tanya Banfield will conduct the screening and refer to a partner organisation for independent diagnostic testing. This ensures her expert opinion carries more weight, as it is delivered on an independent diagnostic report. This is her chosen approach for rigour
However she can, when necessary, conduct assessment using ADD Diagnostic tools and provide a detailed assessment report.

Neuro-Inclusion in Maternity Care
October, 2025
Dr Tanya Banfield led two neuro-inclusion training sessions for the Senior Management and Maternity Teams at Conquest Hospital, Hastings.
The sessions explored supporting autistic colleagues and neurodivergent birthing mothers, and examined impostor syndrome’s impact on inclusion in healthcare.
Delivered with Band 7 Midwife Ella Jackson, the training inspired meaningful discussions and a strong commitment to creating one of the UK’s first neuro-inclusive maternity services.
